Join us at An Creagán on Tuesday 23rd June at 7.30pm as we celebrate the ancient tradition of Bonfire Night.
For generations, communities across the countryside gathered on the eve of 23rd June to light ceremonial bonfires in honour of the land and its fertility. This celebration marked an important point in the agricultural calendar, bringing people together to give thanks for the growing season and to seek prosperity for the harvest ahead.
When the fire had burned down, embers from the bonfire were carried and placed in fields throughout the countryside. It was believed that these sacred embers increased the fertility of the crops, ensuring a successful harvest in the months to come.
Our symbolic fire pays tribute to this rich heritage and the deep connection between people, community and the land.
Come along and experience this special tradition, learn about its history and gather with us as we honour the land and keep this ancient custom alive.
