Foraging for Food & Artisan Food Tour

Join us for an unforgettable one-day tour that combines foraging and artisan foods in the stunning Sperrins region. Led by our guide, this tour will take you on a journey through the natural bounty of the area and introduce you to some of the finest artisan food producers in the region.

 

Your day will begin with a brief introduction by our guide, who will share their knowledge of the natural foods, herbs, and berries that grow in the Sperrins. You’ll then embark on a guided walk at the grounds of An Creagán, collecting natural foods, herbs, and berries used by early settlers throughout the year. The guide will also guide you in foraging for materials used for craft making and medicinal purposes. Similar guided walks will take place at the Peadar Haughey farm and on two of our partner farms in Gortin and Rousky, depending on the time of year.

 

Using ancient recipes, the group will be treated to a delicious lunch prepared by our cook, using natural foods, herbs, and berries collected on the guided walk, our guide with experience in artisan cooking who will be using traditional recipes that have been passed down for generations.   After lunch, our guide will take the group on a local artisan food products tour, visiting four different producers of cheese, chutneys/relishes, ice creams, and fish farm. You’ll have the opportunity to learn about the production methods, sample their products, and purchase some souvenirs to take home.
